Axel's take: 8.1/10

Useful kitchens and welcoming staff, but request a room away from the interstate. a practical 3-star extended-stay hotel in Harbison’s shopping district, scored for what it is.

This 3-star extended-stay hotel is a strong pick for travelers who want a kitchen and easy access to Harbison’s shops and restaurants. Renovated in 2024, it earns broadly positive ratings across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor. Guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff, comfortable beds and useful cooking facilities; free parking adds to the practical appeal.

The trade-offs are interstate noise, some tight studio layouts and breakfast that draws recurring complaints about limited choices or missing items. Cleanliness is generally well rated, though several recent Tripadvisor guests describe housekeeping or maintenance lapses. Ask for a room away from I-26, and check the layout before sharing a studio with four people. We’d skip it for a quiet, walkable downtown break. Marriott still displays a renovation notice targeting spring 2024; its manager confirms that renovation was completed, so verify whether any new work is planned.

  • Best for: Longer stays with self-catering; Business travelers with a car; Shopping and Lake Murray trips

  • Watch out for: I-26 noise in some rooms; Tight studios when sofa beds are open; Uneven breakfast and occasional housekeeping lapses

  • Location: Convenient for Harbison shopping and restaurants; better suited to drivers than a downtown walking trip.

  • Rooms: Full kitchens and comfortable beds; some studios feel cramped with the sofa bed open.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, tempered by several recent reports of housekeeping shortcomings.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, including when room changes are needed.

  • Amenities: Free breakfast, outdoor pool, gym, laundry and barbecue area; no indoor pool or airport shuttle.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; pets incur a fee and restrictions, housekeeping is every other day, and an apparently outdated renovation notice remains online.
