#2 of 9 hotels in The Vista by Axel's take. The Vista is #1 of 5 places to stay in Columbia, South Carolina. The best hotels in The Vista, ranked · Where to stay in Columbia, South Carolina

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong downtown base, with modern rooms but imperfect soundproofing. a modern, upper-midrange downtown hotel in the Vista, scored for what it is.

This modern, upper-midrange hotel is a strong pick for exploring Columbia without driving to every meal. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, and recent Expedia reviews remain particularly positive. The Vista location puts restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, with the State House, convention center and Colonial Life Arena nearby. Park & Lady restaurant and a gym round out a practical downtown stay.

The main reservation is soundproofing: several Tripadvisor guests describe intrusive footsteps and banging from upstairs. We'd request a top-floor room, though that cannot guarantee quiet. Parking and cooked-to-order breakfast cost extra, and Expedia lists housekeeping as available on request. Choose it for comfort and walkability; we'd look elsewhere if undisturbed sleep is your overriding priority.

  • Best for: downtown dining and sightseeing; convention and arena visitors; University of South Carolina visits

  • Watch out for: recurring complaints about overhead noise; parking and breakfast cost extra; housekeeping on request

  • Location: Walkable Vista setting near restaurants, the State House, convention center and arena.

  • Rooms: Modern, spacious and comfortable by broad guest consensus; overhead noise is the clearest weakness.

  • Cleanliness: Strong ratings across Booking.com and Expedia outweigh scattered housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Helpful staff receive widespread praise, despite occasional reports of uneven front-desk interactions.

  • Amenities: Park & Lady restaurant and bar, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and meeting facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: Self-parking, valet parking, breakfast and pets carry extra charges; housekeeping is on request.
