#9 of 9 hotels in Northeast Columbia & Fort Jackson by Axel's take. Northeast Columbia & Fort Jackson is #5 of 5 places to stay in Columbia, South Carolina. The best hotels in Northeast Columbia & Fort Jackson, ranked · Where to stay in Columbia, South Carolina
Axel's take: 4.7/10
Convenient highway access cannot outweigh recurring cleanliness and maintenance problems. a no-frills 2-star motel off I-20, scored for what it is.
This no-frills 2-star motel off I-20 offers free parking, free Wi-Fi and pet-friendly rooms, but we'd look elsewhere first. Its highway location is practical for drivers visiting northeast Columbia or Fort Jackson. Some 2026 guests praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, yet Expedia's overall rating remains poor, and the recent feedback is too inconsistent to call this reliable budget value.
The main concern is basic upkeep, not missing luxuries. Hotels.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly report cockroaches, dirty rooms and elevator problems; September and October 2026 reviews suggest those issues persist. Guests also describe smoke smells, noise and difficulty getting fresh towels. Earlier reviews report a closed pool, so don't book expecting a swim without confirmation. We'd skip it for family graduation trips or any stay where dependable cleanliness matters.
-
Best for: drivers needing northeast Columbia access; pet owners with very flexible expectations
-
Watch out for: recurring dirt and cockroach reports; elevator outages reported into October 2026; pool availability unconfirmed
-
Location: Off I-20 in northeast Columbia; practical with a car, rather than a downtown sightseeing base.
-
Rooms: Basic air-conditioned rooms; guests report uneven condition, smoke smells and noise.
-
Cleanliness: Repeated recent complaints about dirt and cockroaches outweigh scattered praise for clean rooms.
-
Service: Some staff earn warm praise, but towel availability and problem handling are inconsistent.
-
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, free parking and coin laundry; confirm pool operation and elevator access directly.
-
Fees and surprises: Guests report a refundable cleaning deposit; confirm payment requirements and late-arrival arrangements before booking.
