Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong campus-side choice for comfort and service, with some late-night noise. a modern, upscale 4-star across from the University of Cincinnati, scored for what it is.

Hotel Celare is a modern, upscale 4-star across from the University of Cincinnati, and we'd put it high on the list for campus visits. Opened in January 2025 under Marriott's Tribute Portfolio, it earns consistent praise on Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor for clean, comfortable rooms and genuinely helpful staff. The Vick rooftop bar, Iris Cafe and 24-hour gym give it more appeal than a purely functional university hotel.

The main trade-off is quiet: guests on Tripadvisor and Marriott's site report street noise, with some also flagging music from the rooftop bar. Light sleepers should request a room away from both. Breakfast and valet parking cost extra, and this isn't a downtown location. We'd choose it for UC visits and a stylish base, but look elsewhere for reliably hushed nights or downtown sightseeing on foot.

• Best for: University of Cincinnati visitors; business travelers who prefer an upscale setting; couples who enjoy a rooftop bar

• Watch out for: street and rooftop-bar noise in some rooms; breakfast and valet parking cost extra; not a downtown walking base

• Location: Across from UC, with nearby casual dining; downtown is a short drive rather than on the doorstep.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms draw strong praise; request separation from street and rooftop-bar noise.

• Cleanliness: A standout strength across recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Front-desk, restaurant and valet teams repeatedly earn praise for friendly, helpful service.

• Amenities: The Vick rooftop bar, Iris Cafe and a complimentary 24-hour fitness center.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast, valet parking and pets carry extra charges; Marriott says there is no on-site EV charging.
