Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong location-first pick, with welcoming staff but some noise and housekeeping inconsistencies. A contemporary 3-star hotel in Newport’s entertainment district, across the river from Cincinnati, scored for what it is.

This contemporary 3-star in Newport, Kentucky, is a strong base for the aquarium, Levee restaurants and Cincinnati ballgames. We'd choose it for convenience and its sociable atmosphere rather than polished finishes. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. The indoor pool, lobby bar and outdoor patio give it more appeal than a basic overnight stop.

The trade-offs are street noise, particularly on weekends, and uneven attention to cleaning and maintenance in some Tripadvisor and Google reviews. Those complaints matter, but don't outweigh the broadly positive picture. Guests reported renovation work in May 2026 and a lobby refresh in July; completion isn't confirmed, so check before booking. Parking and breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it if quiet nights and consistently meticulous housekeeping are your top priorities.

• Best for: Reds fans happy to walk across the river; Families visiting Newport Aquarium; Travelers wanting restaurants and bars nearby

• Watch out for: Weekend traffic and engine noise; Some cleaning and maintenance inconsistencies; Confirm completion of the 2026 renovation work

• Location: In Newport, Kentucky—not downtown Cincinnati—with the aquarium, restaurants and river crossings nearby.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise; some guests dislike the sliding bathroom doors and report street noise.

• Cleanliness: Generally well rated, though several recent reviews flag missed cleaning details.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are a consistent strength across booking sites and Google reviews.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, 24-hour gym, W XYZ bar, billiards and patio; Marriott lists housekeeping every other day.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast are extra; pet-fee information conflicts across sites, and renovation completion needs confirmation.
