#2 of 8 hotels in Covington by Axel's take. Covington is #2 of 5 places to stay in Cincinnati. The best hotels in Covington, ranked · Where to stay in Cincinnati

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong budget base with standout staff, but better for drivers than walkers. A budget-friendly, limited-service chain hotel in Covington, across from Cincinnati, scored for what it is.

This limited-service Holiday Inn Express in Covington is a strong pick for a straightforward Cincinnati stay. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, clean rooms and well-stocked hot breakfast. Expedia lists a 2024 renovation, and newer reviews generally describe comfortable, spacious accommodation. Free parking, an indoor pool and in-room microwaves and refrigerators make it especially practical for families and road trips.

The trade-off is the setting: this is a highway-adjacent base, not a scenic riverfront retreat or an effortless downtown walking location. Views vary, and we'd plan on driving or rideshares for Cincinnati outings. Nearby Brent Spence Bridge Corridor construction also means changing access routes and potential delays. We'd skip it for a car-free city break; for travelers prioritizing clean basics, helpful service and useful inclusions, it delivers.

  • Best for: Families traveling by car; Cincinnati event trips; Road-trip stopovers

  • Watch out for: Brent Spence Bridge Corridor construction and detours; Car-oriented, highway-adjacent setting; Variable river views

  • Location: Covington, Kentucky, across the river from Cincinnati; more practical for drivers than pedestrians.

  • Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable after a reported 2024 renovation; microwaves and refrigerators included.

  • Cleanliness: Consistent praise across recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com reviews.

  • Service: Friendly, attentive staff are the clearest recurring strength across sources.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, indoor pool, gym and Wi-Fi; no on-site restaurant or complimentary local shuttle.

  • Fees and surprises: Guest parking is free; nearby bridge-corridor construction can complicate access.
