Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong Hampton for ballgames and aquarium trips, with skyline views worth requesting. A straightforward, limited-service Hampton in Newport, Kentucky, across the river from Cincinnati, scored for what it is.

This limited-service Hampton in Newport, Kentucky, is a strong pick for exploring both riverfronts without driving everywhere. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and the walk across the bridge to Great American Ball Park. Newport Aquarium and the Levee’s restaurants are close, too. Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and an indoor saltwater pool make it particularly practical for families; river-view rooms add a Cincinnati skyline backdrop.

The compromises are mostly practical: parking costs extra, several guests find the pool small, and breakfast is dependable rather than elaborate. Expedia currently flags neighboring-building construction and possible noise; Tripadvisor guests have also reported road-access disruption. Some roadside rooms attract traffic-noise complaints. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat, but for a family outing or stadium weekend, it delivers the basics very well.

• Best for: Families visiting Newport Aquarium; Reds fans happy to walk; Riverfront sightseeing weekends

• Watch out for: Neighboring construction and possible access disruption; Paid parking and EV charging; Small pool; possible roadside noise

• Location: In Newport, Kentucky—not downtown Cincinnati—with walkable aquarium, dining and ballpark access.

• Rooms: Comfort and space earn praise; request a river-view room for the skyline.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong recent feedback across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff dominate feedback; occasional housekeeping follow-through complaints remain.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, indoor saltwater pool, gym and guest laundry; pool is modest.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, EV charging and dogs incur fees; Expedia flags neighboring construction noise.
