Axel's take: 8.6/10

A characterful campus base with strong staff and cleanliness, but extras add up. a playful, university-themed 4-star near UC’s medical campus, scored for what it is.

Graduate Cincinnati is a university-themed 4-star that makes more sense for campus visits than downtown sightseeing. Its colorful, Cincinnati-inspired interiors give it genuine personality, but the stronger selling points are practical: Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. We'd put it high on the list for university visits, nearby hospital appointments and zoo trips. The lobby café and restaurant make staying in convenient, too.

The trade-offs are mostly about location and inclusions. Downtown is roughly three miles away, and this isn't the best base for stepping straight into its restaurants and nightlife. Parking costs extra, breakfast isn't automatically included, and some guests describe slow or limited breakfast service. It's a strong pick for a comfortable, distinctive campus stay; we'd skip it if downtown walkability or an all-included setup matters most.

• Best for: University visitors and Bearcats fans; Families visiting the zoo; Nearby hospital visits

• Watch out for: Paid parking and usually extra-cost breakfast; Occasionally uneven breakfast service; Not a downtown walking base

• Location: Near UC’s medical campus, hospitals and the zoo; roughly three miles north of downtown.

• Rooms: Playful local-themed décor; comfort and room size generally earn positive feedback.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Expedia and Booking.com guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are repeatedly praised; breakfast service gets some criticism.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, fitness center, Fiona’s restaurant and Poindexter Coffee.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and breakfast generally cost extra; dogs are accepted with a per-pet fee.
