Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong campus base with standout staff, but parking takes planning. a practical 3-star across from the University of Cincinnati, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star across from the University of Cincinnati is a strong pick for campus visits and game weekends. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff, with the breakfast team earning particular recognition. The included hot breakfast, indoor pool and gym cover the essentials, while nearby restaurants make it easy to leave the car parked.

Parking is the main compromise: it costs extra, uses a separate public garage and regularly confuses arriving guests. Call ahead for the correct garage and validation instructions. Marriott also flags Friday–Sunday overnight closures on Calhoun and McMillan streets, complicating late arrivals. Some guests mention traffic or neighboring-room noise. We'd skip it if easy parking or a reliably quiet setting matters more than walking to campus.

• Best for: University of Cincinnati visitors; families attending campus events; travelers who want walkable dining

• Watch out for: Paid parking in a separate garage; Weekend overnight street closures; Some traffic and neighboring-room noise

• Location: Across from UC, with restaurants and shops nearby; better suited to campus visits than a downtown-focused stay.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and practical rooms draw praise; some guests mention noise or areas needing updates.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings and repeated recent praise across booking and review sites.

• Service: Friendly front-desk and breakfast staff are a consistent strength.

• Amenities: Complimentary hot breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center and convenience store; no airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra in an off-site garage; confirm validation and weekend road-closure access before arrival.
