Axel's take: 7.9/10

A friendly, convenient base for Cincinnati, with noise and renovation caveats. a practical 3-star chain hotel on the Covington side of the river, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard in Covington is a solid, practical base rather than a destination hotel. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. MainStrasse restaurants are within walking distance, and the public Southbank Shuttle stops outside for trips around Covington, Newport and downtown Cincinnati. We'd consider it for a game weekend or straightforward business stay.

The trade-offs matter: nearby trains can interrupt sleep, some recent guests mention dated rooms or musty odors, and breakfast and parking cost extra. There is no pool, despite older listings. Riverstone Place construction is underway nearby; Expedia also lists hotel renovations affecting the lobby, gym and selected rooms from January 1 through April 30, 2027. We'd skip it if quiet nights, swimming or an uninterrupted early-2027 stay are priorities.

• Best for: Cincinnati sports weekends; Business travelers; Exploring both sides of the river

• Watch out for: Train noise near the hotel; No pool; breakfast and parking extra; Nearby construction and January–April 2027 renovations

• Location: Covington, not downtown Cincinnati; walkable to MainStrasse, with the public Southbank Shuttle outside.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and roomy, though some recent guests report dated interiors or musty odors.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by scattered recent reports of dampness and housekeeping misses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Bistro, fitness center and outdoor fireplace terrace; no swimming pool.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking, breakfast and pet fees; nearby Riverstone Place construction and planned January–April 2027 hotel renovations.
