8.5/10
A strong downtown base for car-free stays, with small rooms and awkward parking.
Lumea is a small, historic 3-star boutique hotel in downtown Long Beach, not a beachfront resort. We'd pick it for a short, car-free stay: restaurants, the waterfront and convention center are within walking distance. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. The hotel dates its renovation to 2024; expect refreshed, practical accommodation rather than luxury.
The compromises are small rooms and bathrooms, stairs without an elevator, and paid off-site parking that the hotel says requires cash. Breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking. A minority of recent guests report housekeeping lapses and frustrating payment or refund disputes, although the overall feedback remains strongly positive. We'd skip it if you need step-free access, easy parking or spacious rooms; otherwise, it's a very good base for exploring Long Beach.
