Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong Magnificent Mile base, with roomy suites and genuinely helpful staff. An upscale, all-suite 4-star on the Magnificent Mile, scored for what it is.

Omni Chicago is an upscale, all-suite 4-star whose strongest selling points are practical: separate living and sleeping areas, a central Michigan Avenue address, and staff who repeatedly earn praise. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently highlight clean, spacious accommodations and welcoming service. It's a strong pick for families or couples who want room to spread out between sightseeing and shopping, rather than the newest designer interiors.

The trade-offs are worth knowing. Some furnishings feel dated, and guests on multiple sites mention street or siren noise; light sleepers should request a higher floor away from elevators. A mandatory daily destination charge and expensive valet parking also weaken the value. Most importantly for families, there is no pool, despite outdated listings elsewhere. We'd skip it if swimming or contemporary interiors are priorities.

• Best for: Families wanting separate living space; Magnificent Mile shopping trips; Couples exploring downtown

• Watch out for: No pool; Street noise and some dated furnishings; Daily destination charge and expensive valet parking

• Location: On Michigan Avenue, with shopping, restaurants and major downtown sights within walking distance.

• Rooms: Separate living and sleeping areas are a real advantage; some guests find the furnishings dated.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness feedback, despite occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are one of the most consistent strengths across recent reviews.

• Amenities: 676 Restaurant & Bar and a 24-hour fitness center; the hotel explicitly confirms there is no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory daily destination charge, paid valet parking and an incidental deposit; breakfast is generally extra.
