A polished Loop luxury hotel with strong service, held back by fees and parking. historic luxury-class 4-star in the Loop, scored for what it is.

A luxury-class 4-star in a restored historic building on Adams Street, steps from the L, Millennium Park and the Art Institute. Guests on Google, Tripadvisor and Trip.com keep praising the staff, clean and roomy-for-downtown rooms (standard rooms are around 420 square feet, per the hotel), the spa and the grand public spaces. Held to luxury standards, it mostly delivers, and the Loop location is hard to beat for business or sightseeing.

The trade-offs are the usual downtown-luxury ones. A nightly destination fee shows up that some guests say isn't obvious when booking, and there's no hotel garage: Marriott points guests to a nearby parking structure, and valet is costly. A few guests feel parts of the building show their age, and rooms near the elevators can pick up hallway noise. Skip it if you want a brand-new glamorous build, a fee-free stay or easy self-parking.
