Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong convention pick with clean rooms, welcoming staff and breakfast included. a practical 3-star convention hotel in Chicago’s South Loop, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star Hampton is a strong pick for McCormick Place events, with an indoor connection to the convention center and Wintrust Arena across the street. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and genuinely helpful staff, especially the breakfast team. Included hot breakfast, WiFi, an indoor pool and a gym make it a well-rounded choice for its class.

The trade-offs are mostly logistical. Valet parking is expensive, and Hilton lists no on-site self-parking or valet in-and-out privileges. Breakfast can get busy, while the pool is shared with the building’s other two Hilton brands. It makes more sense for convention-goers and arena visitors than travelers wanting the Riverwalk or Magnificent Mile immediately outside. We’d choose it for event convenience and dependable basics, not a quiet resort-style stay.

• Best for: McCormick Place convention-goers; Wintrust Arena visitors; families wanting breakfast included

• Watch out for: expensive valet without in-and-out privileges; busy breakfast periods; shared indoor pool

• Location: Connected to McCormick Place, across from Wintrust Arena, with train access nearby.

• Rooms: Guests generally describe comfortable, well-kept rooms; some mention firm beds.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise, particularly at breakfast.

• Amenities: Hot breakfast and WiFi included; gym and indoor pool, with recreation facilities shared across three brands.

• Fees and surprises: Valet and pets cost extra; Hilton lists no on-site self-parking or valet in-and-out privileges.
