Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong luxury pick for views and location, with occasional gaps in polish. a five-star high-rise luxury hotel beside the Magnificent Mile, scored for what it is.

Four Seasons Chicago is a five-star high-rise beside the Magnificent Mile, and we'd put it firmly on the shortlist for a luxury city break. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping, comfortable beds, sweeping views and warm staff. The indoor pool, spa and family amenities give it substance beyond the address; indoor access to shopping and casual dining is genuinely useful.

The caveat is consistency rather than any widespread failure: some rooms strike guests as dated, and recent accounts describe requests needing repeated follow-up. Those shortcomings matter at this level. The hotel also confirms a Sip & Guzzle residency in its 46th-floor Mile High Cocktail Club through March 14, 2027; light sleepers should discuss room placement. Choose it for comfort, views and family-friendly luxury; skip it if cutting-edge rooms are your priority.

• Best for: families wanting full-service luxury; Magnificent Mile shopping trips; couples who prioritize lake and skyline views

• Watch out for: some rooms feel dated; occasional service follow-through lapses; ask about room placement near the 46th-floor cocktail club

• Location: Excellent for Magnificent Mile shopping, nearby restaurants and access to the lakefront.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and impressive views; some guests find the furnishings insufficiently fresh for the class.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength, with consistently high marks and repeated praise for thorough housekeeping.

• Service: Warm, attentive service dominates the feedback, but some recent guests report requests requiring reminders.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, spa, fitness facilities, Adorn dining and children's amenities make this a well-rounded luxury choice.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast carry additional charges unless included; confirm package inclusions and cocktail-club room proximity.
