Axel's take: 8.3/10

A dependable sightseeing base with spacious rooms and a worthwhile summer pool. a full-service 4-star hotel near the Magnificent Mile, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star in Streeterville is a strong pick for travelers who want downtown convenience without luxury-hotel expectations. Michigan Avenue, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Riverwalk are within easy walking distance. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor guests also highlight the generous room sizes. The outdoor rooftop pool gives it extra appeal for summer family trips.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: parking is expensive, the pool is summer-only, and some Tripadvisor guests find the rooms ready for an update. Occasional housekeeping and room-readiness lapses temper otherwise positive service feedback. We'd choose it for a comfortable sightseeing base, but skip it if polished luxury or year-round swimming is central to your trip.

• Best for: families visiting in summer; first-time Chicago sightseers; Northwestern hospital visitors

• Watch out for: expensive on-site parking; summer-only outdoor pool; occasional housekeeping and check-in lapses

• Location: Walkable Streeterville base near Michigan Avenue, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Riverwalk.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable; opinions on décor and condition vary.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with occasional housekeeping inconsistencies rather than a dominant problem.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise, though room readiness and follow-through can slip.

• Amenities: Seasonal outdoor rooftop pool, fitness center and HotHouse restaurant and bar.

• Fees and surprises: On-site self-parking costs extra; confirm breakfast inclusions and seasonal pool dates before booking.
