Axel's take: 7.9/10

A good sightseeing base with a sociable lobby, but noise can spoil the stay. a contemporary, select-service 3-star near the Magnificent Mile, scored for what it is.

This contemporary 3-star near the Magnificent Mile is a good pick for travelers prioritizing location over full-service comforts. Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff, while Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed. We'd choose it for a car-free sightseeing trip: shopping, restaurants and the lakefront are within easy reach. The indoor pool, 24-hour gym and lobby bar add useful extras without making this a luxury hotel.

The main compromise is quiet. Guests on multiple sites mention thin walls, hallway noise and slamming doors; some also find the minimalist rooms short on space or comfort. Marriott confirms housekeeping every other day and no complimentary breakfast, and valet parking costs extra. We'd skip it if uninterrupted sleep, daily servicing or a substantial included breakfast are priorities.

• Best for: car-free sightseeing trips; couples and friends wanting a social lobby; visitors to Northwestern Memorial Hospital

• Watch out for: thin walls and hallway noise; housekeeping every other day; breakfast and valet parking cost extra

• Location: Convenient Streeterville base near Mag Mile shopping, restaurants and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

• Rooms: Modern and minimalist, with comfortable bedding often praised; space and soundproofing draw mixed feedback.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive overall, though other sites show occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, but complaint handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Heated indoor pool, 24-hour gym, lobby bar, pool table and grab-and-go market.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not complimentary; valet and pets carry fees, and standard housekeeping is every other day.
