Axel's take: 6.8/10

Helpful staff and good breakfasts, but don't book it expecting five-star polish. a mid-range downtown hotel with a five-star listing, scored for what it is.

One Hotel Casablanca makes more sense as a mid-range downtown base than the luxury hotel its five-star listing suggests. We'd consider it for a short city stop: guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, generous buffet breakfasts and spacious rooms. The central location puts shops, markets and tram connections within walking distance. Booking.com and Expedia ratings sit around seven out of ten—a fair reflection of its useful strengths and uneven execution.

The main compromises are street noise and upkeep. Recent guests across several sites describe late-night traffic and shouting, while worn furnishings, tired bathrooms and maintenance faults recur. Cleanliness gets plenty of positive mentions, but isn't consistently dependable. Ask for a room away from the street and check the bathroom and air-conditioning on arrival. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or a polished luxury stay.

• Best for: short Casablanca city stops; value-minded downtown explorers; travelers who prioritize helpful staff

• Watch out for: late-night street noise; uneven housekeeping and maintenance; five-star listing overstates the experience

• Location: Central and walkable for markets, shops and tram stops, but the surrounding streets are noisy.

• Rooms: Often spacious and comfortable; recurring reports flag worn fittings, bathroom faults and unreliable air-conditioning.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recent housekeeping complaints make consistency a concern.

• Service: Friendly, attentive staff are the clearest strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, restaurant, spa, gym and free Wi-Fi are listed; breakfast draws repeated praise.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a city tax payable at the property; confirm breakfast inclusion and reserve spa treatments ahead.
