Axel's take: 8.3/10

Warm service and central convenience make this a strong city base, not a resort. a five-star downtown business hotel, scored for what it is.

Casablanca Marriott is a five-star downtown business hotel, and we'd choose it for helpful staff, comfortable rooms and easy access to the city rather than resort-style luxury. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcome, cleanliness and breakfast. The Old Medina, Central Market and Casa Port station are within walking distance, making it a practical base for business trips or a short sightseeing stop.

The five-star label needs some qualification: guests differ on how fresh the interiors feel, and traffic noise and sound transmission feature in reviews. More importantly, guests reported the pool and spa unavailable during renovations; Marriott's current website advertises neither, and reopening remains unconfirmed. We'd skip it for a swimming or spa break, but it's a strong pick if location and attentive service matter more.

• Best for: business travelers; short city sightseeing stays; travelers who prioritize helpful staff

• Watch out for: pool and spa reopening unconfirmed; traffic and adjoining-room noise; some interiors still feel dated

• Location: Central downtown setting, walkable to the Old Medina, Central Market and Casa Port; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, though condition impressions vary and some guests report noise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews, with strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, attentive staff are the clearest recurring highlight across sites.

• Amenities: Gym, restaurants and qualifying-access M Club lounge; do not count on a pool or spa.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is complimentary; breakfast inclusion and lounge access depend on your booking or status.
