Axel's take: 8.3/10

Come for the uninhibited parties and friendly staff, not quiet luxury. An upscale, adults-only all-inclusive built around topless-optional pool parties, scored for what it is.

Temptation is an upscale, adults-only all-inclusive where the party is the main attraction. Open to guests 21 and over, it combines topless-optional pools, suggestive entertainment and themed nights with a highly social atmosphere. It's a strong pick if that sounds liberating rather than exhausting. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the entertainers, bartenders and welcoming service; cleanliness also earns strong overall marks.

The trade-off is polish and peace. Recent reviews describe some tired rooms, intrusive music and uneven dining, although plenty of guests enjoy the food. Membership pitches and paid premium seating also draw recurring criticism. We'd choose it for an outgoing couples' or friends' trip, not a restful beach escape. Light sleepers and travelers expecting consistently refined luxury should look elsewhere; confirm room location and exactly which extras your booking includes.

• Best for: Outgoing couples comfortable with topless-optional spaces; Friends prioritizing pool parties and nightlife; Travelers who enjoy themed nights

• Watch out for: Loud music and late-night entertainment; Membership pitches and premium-seating upsells; Variable room condition and dining

• Location: Beachfront at Kilometer 3.5 in Cancun's Hotel Zone; the resort's own entertainment is the main draw.

• Rooms: Comfort scores are strong overall, but recent guests still report worn furnishings and noise.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across major sites, despite occasional room-specific complaints.

• Service: Entertainment, bar and restaurant staff receive consistent praise; membership sales are less welcome.

• Amenities: Party and quiet pools, themed nights, multiple restaurants, a gym and a spa; topless optional, not fully nude.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a city tax and damage deposit; premium seating and some experiences cost extra.
