Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Zamalek base with welcoming staff, refreshed rooms and worthwhile dining. a renovated, independent 3-star in Zamalek, scored for what it is.

The President is a renovated, independent 3-star in Zamalek, and we'd pick it for neighborhood convenience and personable service rather than luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable rooms and breakfast; Booking.com also scores service and location particularly well. The rooftop restaurant, bakery, gym and spa give it more substance than a basic city hotel. Its older overall ratings are less enthusiastic than the recent feedback.

The main caution is quiet: some guests mention street noise, and Expedia lists exterior and guestroom renovations at the neighboring New President through January 31, 2027. Ask whether work could affect your room; disruption here isn't confirmed. There's no on-site parking. It's a strong choice for exploring Zamalek's cafés and shops, but we'd skip it if guaranteed silence or polished luxury matters most.

• Best for: couples exploring Cairo; solo travelers wanting a walkable neighborhood; business travelers seeking a smaller hotel

• Watch out for: possible noise from neighboring renovations; some street noise; no on-site parking

• Location: Northern Zamalek, with cafés and shops nearby and Safaa Hegazy metro roughly eight minutes away.

• Rooms: Renovated rooms draw recent praise for comfort and space; request a quieter room.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive, despite an occasional sharply negative report.

• Service: Warm, helpful reception and restaurant staff are the clearest recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Rooftop dining, bakery, Cairo Cellar bar, gym, spa and free Wi-Fi.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast inclusion and transfer charges; neighboring New President renovations are listed through January 31, 2027.
