Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical Heliopolis base, with friendly staff but uneven rooms and amenities. a simple, older 3-star in Heliopolis, scored for what it is.

Royal Marshal is a simple, older 3-star in Heliopolis, and we'd consider it for a straightforward stay when this part of Cairo suits your plans. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise helpful staff and clean rooms, while a recent Tripadvisor review echoes those strengths. Breakfast, on-site dining and a rooftop pool give it more appeal than a room-only budget stop.

The compromise is consistency rather than a lack of facilities. Guests describe some rooms as dated or small, breakfast opinions vary, and occasional shortages of towels and toiletries suggest uneven attention to basics. Pool descriptions also differ across listings, so confirm availability before making swimming part of your plans. It's a reasonable pick for travelers with business nearby; we'd skip it for polished interiors or sightseeing centered on downtown Cairo.

• Best for: budget-conscious Heliopolis stays; travelers with business nearby; short, practical visits

• Watch out for: dated or compact rooms; uneven provision of room basics; confirm pool availability

• Location: A Heliopolis base rather than a downtown sightseeing address; Expedia lists the nearest metro station about 14 minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Generally functional and comfortable, but recent Expedia guests and Google reviews describe some rooms as old or small.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive across Booking.com, Expedia and the April 2026 Tripadvisor review, though not uniformly praised.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; some guests report inconsistent professionalism and replenishment of basics.

• Amenities: Breakfast, dining and free Wi-Fi are listed; guests mention a rooftop pool, but pool type and seasonal availability need confirmation.

• Fees and surprises: Check whether taxes and service charges are included; parking arrangements differ by listing, and the supplied website explicitly says it is unofficial.
