Axel's take: 7.8/10

Choose it for Nile views and warm service, not consistently polished luxury. an established five-star Nilefront hotel undergoing refurbishment, scored for what it is.

This established five-star Nilefront hotel is a good downtown base, but not a reliably polished luxury stay. We'd choose it for a Nile-view balcony, convenient access to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum, and extensive dining options. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and breakfast; cleanliness is generally a strength.

The trade-off is uneven room condition: recurring reports describe tired furniture, dated bathrooms and traffic or pool-event noise. Guestroom refurbishment is underway, so confirm your room's condition and proximity to work before booking. IHG also announces that the swimming pool, pool deck and Sabaya by the Nile will close for renovation from November 20, 2026, through March 31, 2027. We'd skip it for a quiet luxury retreat, or a pool-focused stay during those dates; its strongest case is location and hospitality rather than flawless five-star finish.

• Best for: downtown sightseeing; travelers wanting Nile-view balconies; guests who prioritize dining and service

• Watch out for: ongoing guestroom refurbishment; dated rooms and traffic or event noise; pool, pool deck and Sabaya closure: November 20, 2026–March 31, 2027

• Location: Central Nilefront setting near Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum; road noise is a recurring drawback.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable, but older furniture and bathrooms fall short of luxury expectations; refurbishment is underway.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across recent reviews, although worn finishes can detract from the impression.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff draw consistent praise; some guests report uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Extensive restaurants, spa, well-equipped gym and outdoor pool; announced pool-area renovation affects winter stays.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and airport transfers cost extra; check breakfast inclusion and refurbishment arrangements before booking.
