Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical mall-connected base, stronger on convenience than five-star polish. a five-star-rated, full-service business hotel attached to Citystars mall, scored for what it is.

Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars is a five-star-rated business hotel whose strongest selling point is convenience rather than luxury. Direct access to Citystars mall makes meals and shopping easy, and the airport-side location suits work trips. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and a substantial breakfast buffet. We'd pick it for a straightforward, comfortable stay with plenty on the doorstep.

The trade-off is that this isn't central sightseeing Cairo, and guest ratings are less uniformly enthusiastic on Booking.com than Tripadvisor. Room condition and maintenance draw mixed feedback. Renovations involving the lobby, public spaces and selected rooms remain flagged by IHG; booking sites' September 18, 2026 completion date has passed, so confirm the current disruption before committing. We'd skip it for a quiet luxury escape or a walkable historic-city base.

• Best for: business travelers in eastern Cairo; shoppers wanting direct mall access; airport-side stays

• Watch out for: confirm lobby and guestroom renovation status; not a central sightseeing base; uneven room condition

• Location: Direct mall access and convenient for the airport; sightseeing generally requires a drive.

• Rooms: Comfortable overall, but maintenance feedback varies; smoking and nonsmoking rooms are offered.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised in recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews, though Booking.com's scores are more restrained.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistent positives across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool with adjoining children's pool, gym, restaurants and free Wi-Fi; breakfast earns frequent praise.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusions and confirm whether lobby and room renovations still affect your stay.
