Axel's take: 7.6/10

Choose it for Nile views and welcoming staff, not consistently polished five-star rooms. a large, older five-star hotel on the Nile, scored for what it is.

Hilton Cairo Grand Nile is a large, older five-star riverfront hotel whose views are more convincing than its luxury finish. It’s a good pick for travelers who prioritize the Nile setting, a pool and a generous breakfast over contemporary rooms. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the outlook and friendly staff; the revolving restaurant adds another reason to linger at the hotel.

The compromise is room condition: dated furniture and tired bathrooms recur across sites, while some guests report slow service and housekeeping lapses alongside many positive accounts. Hilton explicitly confirms that the hotel is alcohol-free. Refurbishment plans have been announced, but a fully refreshed stay should not be assumed; ask about room condition and any works before booking. We’d skip it if modern bathrooms, seamless service or drinks with dinner are essential.

• Best for: travelers prioritizing Nile views; families wanting a pool; guests comfortable with an alcohol-free hotel

• Watch out for: dated rooms and bathrooms; occasional service and housekeeping lapses; no alcohol served

• Location: Central Nile frontage on Roda Island; the river views are a consistent highlight.

• Rooms: Good-sized rooms, many with balconies, but furnishings and bathrooms frequently draw criticism.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, with some recent housekeeping lapses rather than uniformly spotless standards.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise; check-in and restaurant service can be slow.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, spa, executive lounge and multiple restaurants, including revolving dining.

• Fees and surprises: Alcohol-free; parking and breakfast can cost extra depending on the booking. Refurbishment timing is unclear.
