#3 of 9 hotels in Downtown Cairo by Axel's take. Downtown Cairo is #1 of 8 places to stay in Cairo. The best hotels in Downtown Cairo, ranked · Where to stay in Cairo
Axel's take: 8.1/10
A friendly downtown budget base, with a sociable terrace and uneven room standards. a no-frills downtown hostel with dorms and private rooms, scored for what it is.
Cecilia is a no-frills hostel in downtown Cairo, and we'd pick it for helpful people and location rather than polished rooms. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while recent reviews highlight breakfast on the terrace and easy access to Tahrir Square, restaurants and the metro. For budget travelers who enjoy meeting other guests, it's a strong option.
The trade-off is an older building and inconsistent room standards. Most feedback is positive, but several recent guests describe worn furnishings or problems with bedding and bathroom cleanliness. Street noise also comes up, including in otherwise enthusiastic reviews. Check the exact bathroom arrangement before booking: both shared-bathroom and en-suite options are advertised. We'd skip it if quiet nights, consistently spotless finishes or a conventional hotel experience matter more than atmosphere and value.
