Axel's take: 8.1/10

Palace character and excellent staff outweigh dated rooms, but renovation makes room choice important. a large, historic 5-star hotel and casino in Zamalek, scored for what it is.

Cairo Marriott is a sprawling 5-star hotel and casino built around a historic palace, with accommodation towers rather than palace bedrooms as the main offering. It’s a strong pick for Zamalek’s restaurants and shops, extensive gardens, and plenty of on-site dining. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, while cleanliness feedback is broadly positive. We’d choose it for character and facilities rather than cutting-edge luxury.

The trade-offs are aging tower rooms and bathrooms, occasional service delays, and current construction. Booking.com identifies renovation across ten floors of the Zamalek Tower; Expedia lists guestroom work through August 15, 2027, with daytime disturbance possible. Confirm your room’s position relative to the works before committing. We’d skip it if you want uniformly refreshed interiors or dependable daytime quiet.

• Best for: travelers who enjoy historic hotels; Zamalek dining and neighborhood exploring; sightseers wanting gardens and a pool

• Watch out for: Zamalek Tower renovation through August 2027; dated rooms and bathrooms; occasional service delays

• Location: Well-placed in Zamalek for local restaurants and shops; guest feedback strongly favors the setting.

• Rooms: Balconies and Nile-view options appeal, but tower interiors show their age; confirm renovation exposure.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong across Booking.com and Expedia, with some less consistent housekeeping reports on Tripadvisor.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though check-in and dining service can occasionally drag.

• Amenities: Extensive dining, gardens, an outdoor pool, gym, spa and casino; do not assume the catalog’s indoor pool exists.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking costs extra; check breakfast inclusion and the location of ongoing tower works.
