8.8/10
A strong marina-side retreat, provided you don’t need central Búzios on your doorstep.
Hotel Aretê is a contemporary 4-star boutique hotel beside Búzios Marina, best approached as a relaxing base rather than a downtown beach hotel. We'd pick it for comfortable, spacious rooms, canal views and poolside downtime. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and welcoming staff; breakfast earns plenty of enthusiasm, despite some disagreement about variety. The pool, saunas, gym and access to a separate beach club give it a well-rounded leisure offering.
The main compromise is distance: restaurants, nightlife and the best-known beaches generally require transport, and guests repeatedly recommend having a car. The hotel's beach club is 1.3 km away, not outside your room. Some recent guests mention maintenance niggles, uneven problem handling and breakfast extras charged separately. We'd skip it for a walk-everywhere trip, but it's a strong choice for travelers happy to slow down.

Best for: couples seeking a relaxing base; families planning pool and beach-club days; travelers with a car
Watch out for: transport needed for central Búzios; beach club is separate from the hotel; some breakfast extras cost extra
Location: Marina-side setting away from central Búzios; transport is the recurring trade-off.
Rooms: Spacious, comfortable rooms draw strong praise, with occasional maintenance complaints.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest ratings and recent reviews.
Service: Usually warm and attentive, though some guests report slow check-in or inflexible problem handling.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, saunas, gym, restaurant and access to a beach club 1.3 km away.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast is included, but guests report paid extras; parking listings conflict, so confirm arrangements.
