Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical Recoleta base whose location and helpful staff outshine its dated rooms. an aging, officially four-star hotel with mid-range comfort in Recoleta, scored for what it is.

Wilton is an aging, officially four-star hotel in Recoleta that makes more sense as a straightforward mid-range base than an upscale stay. We'd choose it for exploring Buenos Aires: El Ateneo Grand Splendid, restaurants and shops are close, and guest feedback consistently favors the location. Booking.com and Expedia guests also praise helpful staff and generally good cleanliness. Included buffet breakfast adds convenience, while the hotel advertises a rooftop deck, gym and sauna.

The compromise is the building itself. Reviews through 2026 still describe tired furnishings and rooms needing renovation; several guests also flag noisy older air-conditioning. Breakfast divides opinion, particularly over variety, so expect something practical rather than elaborate. It's a good fit for travelers spending their days out who prioritize location over contemporary interiors. We'd skip it for a polished four-star experience or if aging equipment would spoil your sleep.

• Best for: location-first sightseeing trips; value-minded couples and solo travelers; travelers comfortable with older hotels

• Watch out for: dated furnishings and room finishes; reports of noisy older air-conditioning; mixed opinions on breakfast variety

• Location: Recoleta near Santa Fe Avenue, El Ateneo Grand Splendid, restaurants and public transport; the clearest strength.

• Rooms: Generally functional, but dated; some economy rooms face an internal courtyard with limited views.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive overall, including praise for clean linen and bathrooms, despite some individual complaints.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring positive across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Complimentary buffet breakfast and Wi-Fi; rooftop deck, gym and sauna advertised, but no swimming pool confirmed.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and airport transfers cost extra; parking spaces are limited, and Expedia lists a 10 a.m. checkout.
