#8 of 9 hotels in Palermo Soho by Axel's take. Palermo Soho is #6 of 9 places to stay in Buenos Aires. The best hotels in Palermo Soho, ranked · Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Palermo convenience and friendly staff outweigh some, but not all, rough edges. a budget hostel with dorms and private rooms in Palermo Soho, scored for what it is.

Play Hostel Arcos is a budget hostel in an old French-style house in Palermo Soho, not a conventional hotel. Its strongest selling points are the neighborhood and the people: Tripadvisor, Expedia and Hostelworld guests repeatedly praise the location and helpful reception staff. Private rooms and dorms, a courtyard, rooftop barbecue and communal kitchen make it a practical base for travelers putting sightseeing ahead of comfort.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Several 2025–2026 guests on Expedia and Hostelworld describe cramped, tired bathrooms, uneven cleaning and uncomfortable mattresses; kitchen equipment also gets criticism. Positive recent stays show these problems aren't universal, but they're too recurrent to dismiss. Air-conditioning is room-dependent, so check your category carefully. We'd consider it for a short, location-first budget stay, but skip it if spotless bathrooms and reliable sleeping comfort are priorities.

  • Best for: location-first budget travelers; backpackers exploring Palermo; short stays with basic expectations

  • Watch out for: recurring bathroom and cleaning complaints; worn mattresses in some rooms; air-conditioning varies by room

  • Location: Palermo Soho, close to Distrito Arcos, restaurants and Palermo public transport.

  • Rooms: Private rooms and four- or six-bed dorms; bathroom arrangements and air-conditioning vary, with recurring mattress complaints.

  • Cleanliness: Mixed rather than consistently poor, but repeated 2025–2026 complaints concern bathrooms, bedding and shared spaces.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are a consistent strength across recent guest accounts.

  • Amenities: Communal kitchen, courtyard, rooftop barbecue, Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; some guests find kitchen supplies inadequate.

  • Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; confirm tax inclusions, bring a locker padlock and note there is no elevator.
