Axel's take: 8.2/10

Strong on atmosphere and hospitality, less consistent on five-star room polish. a theatrical 5-star design hotel in Puerto Madero, scored for what it is.

Faena is a theatrical 5-star design hotel in Puerto Madero, and we'd choose it for personality rather than flawless modern luxury. Red velvet, dramatic interiors, the Library Lounge and Rojo Tango give it a distinctive identity. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the attentive staff, comfortable beds and dining; cleanliness is generally well rated. It's a strong pick for couples who want evenings at the hotel to be part of the trip.

The rooms don't always match the public spaces: recent guests across sites mention worn fittings and maintenance niggles. Furniture restoration was reported in 2026, and a June guest reported disruptive construction; confirm whether work affects your dates. Puerto Madero also feels removed from Palermo and other neighborhood nightlife. We'd skip it if pristine contemporary rooms or an immersive neighborhood base matter more than theatrical style.

• Best for: couples who enjoy bold design; tango and restaurant enthusiasts; travelers who value personal service

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and maintenance; confirm disruption from 2026 restoration work; removed from Palermo nightlife

• Location: Polished Puerto Madero setting near waterfront restaurants, but less connected to neighborhood nightlife.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive decor; recurring reports of worn fittings and small maintenance problems.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised, with stronger cleanliness scores on Expedia than Booking.com.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are a recurring strength, though some guests report inconsistent execution.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, spa, gym, restaurants, Library Lounge and on-site Rojo Tango.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion varies; valet parking and transfers cost extra. Confirm restoration disruption and dining availability.
