#2 of 9 hotels in Microcentro & Plaza de Mayo by Axel's take. Microcentro & Plaza de Mayo is #2 of 9 places to stay in Buenos Aires. The best hotels in Microcentro & Plaza de Mayo, ranked · Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Axel's take: 9.0/10

A strong downtown hostel for clean beds, helpful staff and easy sightseeing. a comfort-focused budget hostel in central Buenos Aires, scored for what it is.

Che Juan is a budget hostel, not a conventional 3.5-star hotel, and it's a strong pick for travelers happy sharing space. Booking.com, Expedia and Hostelworld guests consistently praise the cleanliness, helpful reception team and comfortable beds with privacy curtains. The central Lavalle address makes sightseeing and public transport straightforward, while the shared kitchen, lounges and organized activities add genuine value for solo travelers.

The trade-off is hostel-style privacy and variable quiet. Some guests mention noise from other rooms, the elevator or evening events; a recent Hostelworld review also reports bathroom queues and patchy in-room Wi-Fi. These aren't the dominant verdict, but light sleepers should take them seriously. Breakfast isn't included, and payment and tax details deserve confirmation before arrival. We'd skip it if guaranteed quiet or a private bathroom is essential.

  • Best for: solo travelers on a budget; downtown sightseeing; travelers who enjoy shared kitchens and activities

  • Watch out for: noise can carry into dorms; shared bathrooms can mean waits; confirm payment and tax inclusions

  • Location: Central Lavalle location near Florida subway station and within walking distance of major sights.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned dorms with well-liked mattresses and privacy curtains; check the bathroom arrangement when booking.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Hostelworld.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchen, lounges, activities and free Wi-Fi; breakfast is not included.

  • Fees and surprises: Confirm taxes and payment requirements; verify step-free access rather than relying on the elevator listing.
