Axel's take: 7.2/10

A useful sightseeing base, but the four-star label promises more polish than it delivers. a basic 4-star city hotel on the San Telmo–Puerto Madero edge, scored for what it is.

Believe Madero is a basic 4-star city hotel on the San Telmo–Puerto Madero edge, best treated as a practical sightseeing base rather than a waterfront retreat. We'd consider it for a short, value-minded stay: restaurants, historic streets and the docks are within walking reach. Booking.com and Expedia guests regularly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms, although Tripadvisor's overall verdict is noticeably weaker.

The compromise is upkeep. Reviews across sites describe dated bathrooms and uneven maintenance; recent Tripadvisor guests also mention thin walls and troublesome shower temperatures. Cleanliness earns broadly positive marks, but isn't faultless. Breakfast is available, though inclusion depends on your booking, and Expedia lists no onsite parking. We'd skip it if quiet nights, reliably polished rooms or a full-service four-star experience matter more than location.

• Best for: value-minded city explorers; short sightseeing stays; travelers visiting San Telmo and the docks

• Watch out for: thin walls and neighboring-room noise; dated bathrooms and inconsistent maintenance; breakfast may cost extra

• Location: Handy for San Telmo, Puerto Madero restaurants and central sights; not a waterfront retreat.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds are a strength, but room condition varies and soundproofing draws complaints.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive on Booking.com and Expedia, with some reports of overlooked bathroom cleaning.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are among the most consistent positives across sites.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, 24-hour reception and buffet breakfast; no pool or onsite parking.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; early arrival and late departure can incur fees, and Expedia lists a city tax.
