#5 of 9 hotels in Jewish Quarter by Axel's take. Jewish Quarter is #5 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Jewish Quarter, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong central hostel for the money, with nightlife noise and a few extra charges. a large budget hostel with dorms and private rooms in central Budapest, scored for what it is.

Wombat’s is a large budget hostel, not a conventional hotel, and it’s a strong pick for exploring Budapest without spending heavily. Its Király Street location puts restaurants, nightlife and Deák Ferenc tér transport close by. Recent Hostelworld and Trip.com guests regularly praise helpful staff, spacious common areas and comfortable dorms; privacy curtains, individual fans and en-suite bathrooms make the shared-room setup more appealing.

The trade-off is sleep: nearby bars and returning groups can make nights noisy. Cleanliness is broadly well rated, but musty smells and uneven bathroom upkeep recur across reviews. Breakfast, towel rental and luggage lockers add to the bill. We’d choose it for a sociable, practical city break, but skip it if quiet nights and consistently hotel-like housekeeping matter most.

  • Best for: solo travelers on a budget; friends combining sightseeing and nightlife; travelers wanting a guest kitchen

  • Watch out for: nightlife and group noise; occasional musty rooms and bathroom upkeep issues; paid breakfast, towels and luggage lockers

  • Location: Central Király Street, convenient for sights, restaurants and Deák Ferenc tér transport.

  • Rooms: Dorms and private rooms have en-suite bathrooms; recent guests appreciate dorm curtains and individual fans.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated, with a minority of recurring complaints about odors and uneven cleaning.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff dominate feedback, though problem handling is not uniformly praised.

  • Amenities: Guest kitchen, bar, café, laundry, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; breakfast costs extra.

  • Fees and surprises: Budget for towel rental and luggage lockers; dorm guests make their own beds with supplied linen.
