#5 of 9 hotels in Belváros & Váci Street by Axel's take. Belváros & Váci Street is #4 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Belváros & Váci Street, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong riverside choice for comfortable rooms and sightseeing, with nighttime noise worth weighing. a large, contemporary 5-star hotel on the Danube, scored for what it is.

Budapest Marriott is a large, contemporary 5-star whose strongest luxury is its Danube setting. We'd choose it for a first Budapest visit: river-facing rooms, walkable sightseeing and dependable comfort make a persuasive combination. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff and the breakfast spread. The rooftop bar adds another reason to linger over the skyline rather than simply sleep here.

The main reservation is nighttime noise: guests on both sites report music from riverside entertainment venues, including in otherwise enthusiastic reviews. Every room has a river view, but the building's angles mean some outlooks are better than others. There's a gym, sauna, steam room and whirlpool, but no swimming pool. It's a strong sightseeing base; we'd look elsewhere for guaranteed quiet or a more intimate luxury stay.

  • Best for: first-time Budapest visitors; travelers who prioritize river views; business travelers

  • Watch out for: late-night riverside music; river-view quality varies by room; no swimming pool

  • Location: Central Pest riverfront setting, convenient for the promenade, shopping and public transport.

  • Rooms: Comfortable contemporary rooms with river views; request a specific outlook rather than assuming all are equivalent.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, supported by strong Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness scores.

  • Service: Recent guests frequently praise friendly, helpful staff.

  • Amenities: Rooftop bar, restaurant, gym, sauna, steam room and whirlpool; no swimming pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; check breakfast and M Club inclusions, and Marriott's direct-booking conditions for complimentary in-room Wi-Fi.
