#7 of 9 hotels in Palace Quarter & Józsefváros by Axel's take. Palace Quarter & Józsefváros is #3 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Palace Quarter & Józsefváros, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong budget base with useful shared spaces, but check the renovation situation. a budget hostel with dorms and private rooms beside Budapest’s Central Market Hall, scored for what it is.

Flow Spaces is a budget hostel, not a conventional two-star hotel, and it’s a strong pick for exploring Budapest without spending much. Its location beside Central Market Hall is the standout, backed by consistently positive feedback about helpful reception staff, well-equipped kitchens and generous common spaces. Dorm privacy curtains and lockers add practical comfort, while private rooms suit travelers who want hostel facilities without sharing a bedroom.

The trade-offs are basic room finishes, occasional noise and mixed feedback on mattresses. Cleanliness is generally well rated on Booking.com and Expedia, though Tripadvisor’s smaller review pool is less enthusiastic. Guests on Hostelworld and Trip.com reported renovation work in August–September 2026, including dust and noise; confirm whether it has finished. We’d skip it for guaranteed quiet or a reliably lively party atmosphere.

  • Best for: budget-minded solo travelers; self-catering city breaks; travelers wanting private rooms with hostel facilities

  • Watch out for: renovation work reported in August–September 2026; occasional noise and mixed mattress comfort; social atmosphere varies

  • Location: Beside Central Market Hall, with the Danube and metro connections a short walk away.

  • Rooms: Mixed and female-only dorms plus private rooms; dorm curtains and lockers are useful, but comfort varies.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive recent feedback, with weaker historical Tripadvisor ratings and renovation dust reported.

  • Service: Helpful staff are a consistent strength; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchens, workspaces, common lounges, garden seating, free Wi-Fi and laundry facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not included; check city-tax inclusion, luggage-storage charges and renovation status before booking.
