Axel's take: 6.7/10

An improving budget stop, but noise and uneven upkeep remain meaningful trade-offs. a basic 2-star roadside motel near downtown Birmingham, scored for what it is.

Tourway Inn is a basic 2-star motel beside I-65, now listed by Wyndham and Expedia as Super 8 by Wyndham Birmingham. We'd consider it for a short, budget-minded stop: free parking, in-room microwaves and refrigerators, and easy downtown access are useful basics. Guests often praise friendly staff and refreshed rooms; October 2026 Expedia feedback is encouraging, though the new listing has very few reviews.

The longer review record is mixed. Tripadvisor and booking-site guests describe traffic or parking-lot noise, while cleanliness, maintenance and Wi-Fi draw uneven reports. Major renovations and construction clutter were reported in spring 2026; completion isn't confirmed. We'd skip it for a quiet getaway or dependable remote working, and confirm the room's condition and any remaining work before booking.

• Best for: budget-conscious drivers; short downtown event stays

• Watch out for: interstate and parking-lot noise; uneven cleanliness and maintenance; renovation completion unconfirmed

• Location: Near I-65 and downtown's civil-rights attractions; more practical for drivers than a relaxed walking-based stay.

• Rooms: Some rooms have been refreshed, but guests still report maintenance faults; no elevator.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, alongside repeated complaints about stained bedding and missed cleaning details.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring positive, although problem handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Free parking, microwaves, refrigerators and advertised Wi-Fi; several guests report unreliable internet.

• Fees and surprises: Now marketed as Super 8; confirm remaining renovation work and incidental-deposit requirements. The supplied website disclaims hotel affiliation.
