Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical BJCC base, but highway noise and uneven upkeep limit its appeal. a large, full-service 3-star convention hotel connected to the BJCC, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Birmingham is a large, full-service 3-star convention hotel whose biggest advantage is its direct BJCC connection. It's a good pick for conferences and arena shows, with Uptown restaurants nearby. The lobby renovation completed in February 2025 gives the public spaces a fresher feel. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests often praise friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms, though room-condition reports remain uneven.

The main compromise is consistency: housekeeping requests can take repeated calls, and maintenance complaints recur. Highway-facing Tower rooms draw particularly strong noise complaints; we'd request an Atrium room away from the interstate. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and Marriott confirms there is no airport shuttle. Pool listings conflict, so verify access before booking. We'd choose it for event convenience, but skip it for a quiet leisure escape.

• Best for: BJCC conference attendees; Arena concertgoers; Business travelers prioritizing convenience

• Watch out for: Highway noise in Tower rooms; Uneven housekeeping and maintenance; Conflicting pool information

• Location: Direct BJCC connection and walkable Uptown dining make event access the standout.

• Rooms: Some guests praise refreshed rooms; request an Atrium room away from highway noise.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, with recurring housekeeping replenishment lapses.

• Service: Staff warmth earns frequent praise, but follow-through on requests varies.

• Amenities: Dining and a 24-hour gym are confirmed; verify pool access because listings conflict.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, breakfast and pets carry charges; in-room Wi-Fi conditions apply, and there is no airport shuttle.
