Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong UAB base with roomy suites and genuinely helpful staff A practical 3-star, all-suite extended-stay hotel beside UAB, scored for what it is.

This 3-star extended-stay hotel is a strong pick for UAB visits, especially when you need more than a bed for the night. Suites have full kitchens and space to spread out, while nearby restaurants give you alternatives to cooking. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff, clean rooms and included breakfast. We'd choose it for hospital visits, campus business or a longer family stay rather than a special-occasion getaway.

The main practical drawback is parking: it costs extra, and guests describe a sloping lot that can get tight when busy. Housekeeping is every other day, and the outdoor pool is seasonal. Room-condition feedback is mostly positive but not unanimous, so don't read Marriott's renovation language as a guarantee of like-new surroundings. Skip it if free parking or daily cleaning matters most.

  • Best for: UAB patients and visiting families; Extended-stay business travelers; Families wanting a kitchen

  • Watch out for: Paid, sloping parking lot; Every-other-day housekeeping; Seasonal outdoor pool

  • Location: Convenient for UAB and Five Points South restaurants, with dining within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites with full kitchens; comfort draws strong praise, though condition feedback varies.

  • Cleanliness: Recent reviews are predominantly positive, supported by strong cleanliness ratings.

  • Service: Warm, helpful front-desk and breakfast staff are the clearest recurring strength.

  • Amenities: Included hot breakfast, fitness center, guest laundry and seasonal outdoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; confirm pet terms because Marriott's posted fee descriptions conflict.
