Axel's take: 5.5/10

Convenient highway access, but inconsistent cleaning makes this a reluctant budget choice. a basic 2-star roadside motel off I-65 in Homewood, scored for what it is.

This is a basic 2-star roadside motel in Homewood, better suited to a brief stop than a Birmingham getaway. Free parking, pets staying free and easy I-65 access are its strongest selling points. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, and some report clean rooms and comfortable beds. Even allowing for budget expectations, though, we'd treat it as a fallback rather than a dependable bargain.

Cleanliness and upkeep are the sticking points: Expedia guests repeatedly flag cleaning shortcomings, while a 2026 Tripadvisor review describes stained bedding and a dirty bathroom. Booking.com's overall guest score is also weak. Rooms are spare, and refrigerators or microwaves aren't dependable inclusions. There's no breakfast beyond reported morning coffee, and no elevator. We'd skip it for longer stays or if reliable cleanliness matters more than keeping costs down.

• Best for: budget motorists needing a brief stop; travelers with pets and modest expectations

• Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and worn rooms; refrigerators and microwaves not guaranteed; no elevator or full breakfast

• Location: Handy for I-65 and nearby food; a car is recommended for exploring Birmingham.

• Rooms: Basic exterior-corridor rooms; comfort earns some praise, but upkeep and equipment vary.

• Cleanliness: Some recent guests report clean rooms, but repeated cleaning complaints undermine confidence.

• Service: Helpful staff draw frequent praise on Expedia, though service is not uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, free parking, air conditioning and a 24-hour front desk; no full breakfast.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists pets staying free, with a two-pet limit; confirm late arrivals and any incidental hold.
