Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Hoover stopover with friendly staff, good breakfast, and a few aging edges. a straightforward, pet-friendly 3-star off I-65 in Hoover, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 3-star off I-65 is a strong pick for a Hoover stopover or a few practical nights, rather than a downtown Birmingham getaway. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, and a breakfast that delivers well for this class. Free parking and Wi-Fi help the value, while Riverchase Galleria and Oak Mountain State Park are convenient outings by car.

The building still has some aging edges: guests mention worn finishes, and several reports flag sound carrying from neighboring rooms, hallways, or the pool. Housekeeping complaints exist, but they are outweighed by positive recent feedback. The outdoor pool is seasonal; Expedia lists it closed September 30 through May 29. Pets cost extra. We'd choose it for an easy, good-value stay, but skip it if you're particularly noise-sensitive or want a walkable city base.

• Best for: road-trip stopovers; travelers with pets; Hoover business and family visits

• Watch out for: sound can carry between rooms; seasonal outdoor pool; some worn finishes

• Location: Convenient off I-65 for Hoover businesses, shopping, and Oak Mountain; best with a car.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and spacious for the class, with some wear and uneven sound insulation.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive, despite occasional housekeeping misses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking, plus a gym and seasonal outdoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Pet fees and restrictions apply; Expedia lists the pool closed September 30–May 29.
