Axel's take: 8.1/10

A practical UAB base with refreshed rooms and helpful staff, but some uneven execution. a renovated, full-service 4-star in UAB’s medical district, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star is a strong pick for UAB hospital visits, campus trips and business stays—not a luxury escape. The hotel announced a renovation of all guestrooms in October 2025, alongside refreshed meeting spaces, Blazer’s Grill and a new gym. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and comfortable beds, while Booking.com guests particularly like the location. Free airport and UAB medical-campus shuttles add genuine convenience.

The trade-off is consistency rather than a shortage of facilities. Most feedback favors clean, comfortable rooms, but several recent Tripadvisor guests report housekeeping lapses, and service recovery does not always match the warm welcome. Parking and breakfast cost extra unless included in your booking. We’d choose it for hospital or university access; we’d skip it if reliably polished service is the priority.

• Best for: UAB patients and visiting families; University visitors; Business and conference travelers

• Watch out for: Occasional housekeeping lapses; Uneven problem handling; Parking and breakfast charges

• Location: Especially convenient for UAB and the medical district, with nearby dining options.

• Rooms: Renovated in 2025; comfortable beds are a recurring strength in guest feedback.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across sites, though recent Tripadvisor reviews include repeat housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Staff friendliness earns frequent praise; follow-through when problems arise is less consistent.

• Amenities: Blazer’s Grill, Starbucks café, gym, outdoor pool and complimentary airport/UAB shuttles.

• Fees and surprises: Paid self-parking, breakfast generally extra, and a nonrefundable pet fee; Hilton lists no valet parking.
