Axel's take: 5.8/10

Useful kitchens and convenient parking, but cleanliness is too inconsistent for an easy recommendation. a budget extended-stay hotel with in-room kitchens in Homewood, scored for what it is.

This budget extended-stay hotel in Homewood offers practical basics: in-room kitchens, free parking, Wi-Fi and guest laundry. It's part of Extended Stay America, despite the catalog's unbranded listing. We'd consider it for a self-catering work trip, but not as a dependable default. Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, and some recent visitors report clean, comfortable rooms; the overall picture is considerably more mixed on Booking.com.

The concern is inconsistent upkeep, not missing luxury. Reviews across sites repeatedly mention stained furnishings, odors and worn kitchens, while several 2026 guests report roaches or dirty bedding. Breakfast is a basic grab-and-go offering, sometimes criticized for running short. Housekeeping isn't daily, and pet fees apply. We'd skip it if reliable cleanliness matters more than having a kitchen, and inspect the room before settling into a long stay.

• Best for: self-catering work trips; budget travelers with a car

• Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and pest complaints; worn furnishings and kitchen fittings; minimal breakfast and infrequent housekeeping

• Location: Practical Homewood base near shopping and interstate access; better suited to drivers than pedestrians.

• Rooms: Kitchens and full-size refrigerators are useful, but guests repeatedly describe worn fittings and stained furnishings.

• Cleanliness: Some guests report clean rooms; repeated complaints about bedding, odors and pests undermine consistency.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, but complaint handling and fee explanations draw criticism.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, guest laundry and grab-and-go breakfast; don't expect a substantial morning meal.

• Fees and surprises: Pet fees apply; standard housekeeping for longer stays is every two weeks, with extra cleaning available for a charge.
