Axel's take: 7.3/10

A practical Hoover base with refreshed rooms, but some uneven housekeeping and maintenance. a refreshed 3-star suburban hotel near Riverchase Galleria, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard is a reasonable pick for Hoover business trips and sports weekends, rather than a Birmingham sightseeing stay. Marriott calls it newly renovated, and 2026 Expedia guests frequently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Booking.com guests also like the location and helpful service. Free parking, nearby restaurants and balconies in some rooms make it an easy suburban base.

The refresh has not eliminated every inconsistency: recent Trip.com reviews include housekeeping and drainage complaints alongside positive stays. Summer 2025 reviews described disruptive renovation work and a closed pool; newer feedback is considerably better, so those older reports should not define today's verdict. Breakfast costs extra, housekeeping is scheduled every other day, and the outdoor pool is seasonal. We'd skip it if meticulous upkeep or a walkable downtown location matters most.

• Best for: Hoover business travelers; Sports-event visitors with a car; Short suburban stays

• Watch out for: Uneven housekeeping and maintenance reports; Breakfast costs extra; Seasonal outdoor pool

• Location: Convenient for Riverchase Galleria, restaurants and Hoover events; better with a car than as a downtown base.

• Rooms: Refreshed rooms draw comfort praise; select rooms have balconies, though some plumbing complaints remain.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive newer feedback, but several recent negative reports mean consistency is not assured.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across Expedia and Booking.com.

• Amenities: Seasonal outdoor pool, fitness center and Bistro; confirm dining hours because Marriott's notices conflict.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; breakfast is not included as standard, and Marriott lists every-other-day housekeeping.
