#7 of 9 hotels in Schöneberg by Axel's take. Schöneberg is #9 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Schöneberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Roomy comfort and good breakfasts, but not the polished luxury the name suggests. a large, aging upscale business hotel beside the Landwehr Canal, scored for what it is.

This large, upscale business hotel beside the Landwehr Canal is a reasonable pick for space and comfort rather than contemporary luxury. Expedia and Booking.com guests regularly praise the generous rooms, comfortable beds and breakfast, while the quieter setting near Tiergarten suits travelers happy to walk or take buses. We'd consider it for a practical Berlin stay, provided dated interiors aren't a deal-breaker.

The weaknesses recur across recent reviews: worn carpets and bathrooms, uneven housekeeping and service, and occasional ineffective air-conditioning. Guests report the pool and wellness area closed; Marriott currently advertises a gym, not a pool. VisitBerlin also reports comprehensive renovation underway while the hotel remains open, so confirm work affecting your dates. We'd skip it for a spa break, doorstep U-Bahn access or reliably polished luxury.

Best for: business travelers wanting spacious rooms; city visitors comfortable using buses; travelers prioritizing comfort over modern decor
Watch out for: renovation during hotel operations; pool and wellness area reported closed; dated interiors and uneven housekeeping
Location: Quiet canal-side setting near Tiergarten; Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn is roughly a ten-minute walk.
Rooms: Generous space and comfortable beds, but recurring reports of worn furnishings and weak air-conditioning.
Cleanliness: Generally positive aggregate ratings, tempered by repeated recent housekeeping lapses.
Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but responsiveness and consistency vary.
Amenities: Breakfast, dining, bar and gym; do not rely on older pool or spa listings.
Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; confirm renovation disruption and whether breakfast is included.
