#9 of 9 hotels in Friedrichshain by Axel's take. Friedrichshain is #8 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Friedrichshain, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 7.1/10

Handy for nightlife and concerts, but noise and recent cleanliness concerns warrant caution. A large budget hostel with dorms and private rooms beside Warschauer Straße, scored for what it is.

Industriepalast is a large budget hostel with private rooms, not a conventional hotel. Its strongest asset is the location: Warschauer Straße transport, East Side Gallery and major concert venues are close by. Booking.com and Expedia ratings remain broadly positive, with guests frequently praising helpful staff, clean rooms and value. A guest kitchen, courtyard and round-the-clock reception make it a practical base for short, inexpensive Berlin trips.

The trade-offs are substantial if sleep matters. Recent guests repeatedly describe street noise and hot rooms without air-conditioning; rear-facing rooms can help with noise. More concerning, separate 2026 Tripadvisor and Google-linked reviews report bedbugs, although many other guests praise cleanliness and an ongoing infestation cannot be established. Dorm bedding costs extra, and the property is cashless. We'd consider it for nightlife-focused travelers, but skip it for quiet breaks or if those pest reports are a deal-breaker.

  • Best for: Budget travelers prioritizing transport; Concertgoers; Nightlife-focused groups

  • Watch out for: Street noise and summer heat; Multiple 2026 guest reports of bedbugs; Extra dorm-linen charge; cashless payments

  • Location: Excellent transport connections near East Side Gallery and concert venues, in a busy nightlife area.

  • Rooms: Basic dorms and private rooms; recurring complaints about heat, street noise and simple bunks.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, but recent bathroom complaints and multiple pest reports deserve attention.

  • Service: Staff are often praised as helpful; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Guest kitchen, courtyard, free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, games and breakfast available.

  • Fees and surprises: Dorm linen is extra; bring a locker padlock and expect card-only payments.
