#6 of 9 hotels in Kreuzberg by Axel's take. Kreuzberg is #7 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Kreuzberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical sightseeing base with friendly staff, but rooms are showing their age. a no-frills 2-star-superior hotel near Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star-superior ibis is a good pick for a Berlin sightseeing trip, especially if location matters more than design. Anhalter Bahnhof is close by, and Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie are walkable. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. We'd choose it as a straightforward place to sleep between days exploring the city.

The trade-off is an older-style ibis interior rather than a freshly updated hotel. Recent guests mention dated fittings, limited sockets and compact bathrooms; rooms lack kettles, too. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, but costs extra unless included in your booking, as does parking. We'd skip it if you want contemporary rooms or generous space for spending much time indoors.

  • Best for: budget-conscious sightseers; short city breaks; travelers using public transport

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and limited sockets; compact bathrooms; no in-room kettle; breakfast and parking cost extra

  • Location: Near Anhalter Bahnhof, with Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Simple, mostly 16-square-meter rooms; older fittings and compact bathrooms are recurring trade-offs.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive across sites, although not every guest reports spotless conditions.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a consistent strength in guest feedback.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, breakfast buffet, terrace and paid garage parking with EV charging.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking and pets carry additional charges.
