#2 of 9 hotels in Kreuzberg by Axel's take. Kreuzberg is #7 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Kreuzberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong-value Berlin base, with generous breakfast and genuinely helpful staff. a straightforward independent 3-star near Hermannplatz, scored for what it is.

Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven is a straightforward 3-star near Hermannplatz that gets the important things right. It's a strong pick for good-value Berlin sightseeing: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, roomy accommodation, helpful staff and the generous included breakfast. The terrace adds somewhere pleasant to sit, while nearby U7 and U8 connections make exploring practical without a car.

The trade-offs are mostly about polish and room choice. Some interiors feel dated, and several Tripadvisor guests flag traffic noise in street-facing rooms; we'd request a rear-facing room. Booking.com lists air-conditioned rooms separately, so check your category for a summer stay. Free parking is limited, not guaranteed. We'd skip it if you want sleek design or major sights immediately outside the door.

  • Best for: value-minded city explorers; concertgoers visiting Huxleys Neue Welt; travelers happy using public transport

  • Watch out for: traffic noise in street-facing rooms; air conditioning depends on room category; limited free parking

  • Location: A short walk from Hermannplatz U7/U8, with Huxleys Neue Welt nearby; use transit for major sights.

  • Rooms: Guests often praise the space; decor can feel dated, and quieter orientation matters.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across review sites.

  • Amenities: Included breakfast buffet, terrace, bar, free Wi-Fi, elevator and 24-hour reception.

  • Fees and surprises: Free parking is limited; Expedia lists a pet surcharge, and air conditioning requires the right room category.
