#5 of 9 hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten by Axel's take. Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten is #5 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Potsdamer Platz & Tiergarten, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A dependable upscale base with excellent transport links and a standout breakfast. a polished 5-star business hotel by Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

Berlin Marriott is a polished 5-star business hotel by Potsdamer Platz, and a strong pick for travelers who want comfort and convenience rather than boutique character. Recent Expedia, Trip.com and HolidayCheck guests repeatedly praise spacious, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, cleanliness and helpful staff. Breakfast is another consistent highlight. Marriott confirmed the public-area refurbishment was complete in February 2026, bringing a refreshed lobby and CHRONOBAR alongside the redesigned Midtown Grill.

The trade-off is a large, corporate-hotel atmosphere rather than an intimate Berlin experience. Parking and hotel dining can feel expensive, and breakfast is not included with every booking. The indoor pool, sauna and gym are useful extras, but this is better approached as a comfortable city base than a spa escape. We'd choose it for sightseeing or business; skip it if distinctive neighborhood character is your priority.

  • Best for: first-time Berlin sightseers; business travelers; travelers who prioritize quiet, comfortable rooms

  • Watch out for: large, corporate-hotel atmosphere; paid parking and pricey hotel dining; breakfast inclusion depends on booking

  • Location: Steps from Potsdamer Platz transport, with major sights including Brandenburg Gate within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Guests consistently describe spacious, quiet rooms with comfortable beds.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent guest reviews and Booking.com's category ratings.

  • Service: Recent reviews broadly praise friendly, helpful and professional staff.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, sauna, gym, Midtown Grill and CHRONOBAR; executive lounge access requires eligibility.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and pets carry fees; check breakfast inclusion. Marriott confirmed public-area renovations complete in February 2026.
