Axel's take: 7.3/10
Excellent breakfast and a handy location make up for small, tired rooms. A simple mid-range city hotel in central Bergen, scored for what it is.
Scandic Byparken is a simple mid-range city hotel: a practical Bergen base rather than somewhere to linger. We'd pick it for sightseeing without a car, with museums, shops, airport transport and the waterfront within easy reach. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous breakfast and helpful staff. Those strengths carry the stay, and many guests find the basic rooms clean and comfortable.
The compromise is the accommodation itself. Scandic lists standard doubles at just 12–15 square metres, and recent reviews still describe worn finishes and cramped bathrooms. Noise from the street or nearby equipment can disturb sleep, while several recent guests report missed or incomplete housekeeping despite broadly positive cleanliness ratings. Check whether breakfast is included; parking is paid and off-site, and the gym is external. We'd skip it if spacious, freshly updated rooms or dependable quiet are priorities.
